Message from the Manager

Dear all,

It is my pleasure along with the rest of the staff at the East London Community Law Service (formerly The Refugee Advice Centre), to welcome you to our website. Here at the East London Community Law Service we provide comprehensive advice and representation in the fields of Asylum and Immigration, Report it! Domestic Violence and Hate Crime. We are here to help all members of the community with legal advice and representation in these fields, irrespective of income level. Here at the East London Community Law Service it is a major priority that we work persistently to provide the most efficient customer service and support for the local community. Our team works immensely hard to maintain the fundamental principles and integrity of our service and operations.

Our highly experienced caseworkers, solicitors and OISC Immigration advisors provide comprehensive casework service by providing advice from beginning to end. Including representation at tribunals, filing petitions for Judicial Review in the High Court, housing issues and other debt related matters. Most importantly, our service is independent and confidential. We hold the Community Legal Service Specialist Quality Mark level 3 in all our service delivery areas.

Besides our legal commitments, the East London Community Law Service is also an organisation which proudly supports other community organisations in different areas. We constantly strive to support small advice agencies in all aspects of their development such as through the provision of accommodation and general community sector support. This is evident in our management of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Centre located in Leytonstone, which is a part of our charity and organisation, and our continuous support of the Ghana Welfare Association, Somali Bravanese Action Group and the Angolan Refugee Project.

As the purpose of the website is to create awareness of the East London Community Law Service and the range of services that are available, I encourage agencies to look at the selection of services on offer at this facility.

Sincerely,

Connie Mante

Chief Executive Officer, East London Community Law Service
